Description
Nutritional yeast flakes are produced through the fermentation of the species sarrcharonyces cerevisiae on molasses. Nutrients including Folic Acid are added to the live yeast during a second fermentation. It is then harvested, washed, ?inactivated? and then rolled into dried flakes. Nutritional yeast is a popular food product often used in vegan cooking and has a nutty, savoury ?cheesy? flavour. It is naturally gluten free, low in sodium and calories, high in B vitamins and folic acid. It is used to enhance the flavour in many vegan and dairy-free dishes. Sprinkle on pasta, popcorn, mix into soups, sauces and dressings for umami flavour and stir into ?cheesy? sauces.
