Description
Tapioca flour is a fine starch extracted from the cassava root. Tapioca starch is free from gluten and can be used in baking or as a thickener for sauces, soups and pie fillings. Its mild flavour makes it suitable for savoury and sweet recipes and it has the ability to improve the structure of gluten free baked goodies in conjunction with other gluten-free flours. Can be interchangeable with arrowroot flour in most instances. To thicken a sauce or soup, mix approx 1 tab of flour with a small amount of water (in a small jug) per cup of soup/sauce. Add slowly to the dish whilst stirring constantly and heat for 5 mins until the required consistency is required.
